Meet Your Guides

Skilled in the Saddle, Rooted in the Prairie

At the heart of every HI Horse Adventure are the guides who ride beside you, shaped by ranch life and seasoned by the prairie. They’ve spent their lives in the saddle, reading the land and moving with the seasons. With quiet confidence and deep care, they lead each ride not as a show, but as a way of life. Out here, it’s about showing up with heart, skill, grit and a welcome that stays with you. So if you’re craving a break from the rush, if you want to slow down, breathe deeper, and get a little dust on your boots, we’d be honoured to share a piece of our prairie with you

Carmen Hanson

This land runs deep in my family, and welcoming folks to ride here is one of the greatest joys of my life. Every ride is a chance to share a little of what makes this place special — the quiet beauty, the connection with the horses, the stories the land holds. I believe in going at the pace that feels right and making sure every guest leaves feeling like part of the range.

Josey Olson

I grew up on the back of a horse in these wide open prairies, and there’s no place I’d rather be. Leading rides here isn’t just a job, it’s part of who I am. I love helping guests slow down, soak in the views, and feel connected to the land the way I do. Whether you’ve been riding all your life or it’s your first time, I’ll be here to guide you every step of the way.

Heather Olson

Hi, I’m Heather, a ranch mama, grasslands lover, and now one of your Heritage Outfitting guides. When I’m not helping raise kids, cattle, or crops, I’m sharing stories about this beautiful land and the way we live with it. The prairies have always been home to me. Their quiet strength, wide skies, and rich ecosystem are a part of who I am and I’m excited to pass on what I’ve learned growing up and living out here and to help more people experience the magic of the grasslands firsthand. Can’t wait to ride with you!

Kaycee Duquette

The prairie has a rhythm of its own, and I’ve spent my life riding with it. I’ve always felt at home in the saddle, and there’s nothing better than sharing that peace and freedom with others. Out here, we move with the land, the weather, and the horses and I’m here to help you feel confident, safe, and inspired by the experience.

They say that hard work becomes easy when your work becomes your play, in my opinion that couldn’t be more true then with the ranching lifestyle. And what better way to experience the “play” then on the back of a horse?! Being raised in the ranching lifestyle makes it deeply ingrained in my heart and my soul. I grew up loving family, the wide open spaces, the big skies, the cattle, the horses and everything associated with them (both work and play). I’m blessed now to pass this lifestyle, and the experiences, down to my children. I look forward to sharing some time of “play” with you on the backs of good horses in beautiful country.

Shelby Budd

I’ve been part of Heritage Outfitting since the beginning, helping share our story with the world through photos, posts, and updates — and I’m just as happy behind a screen as I am helping out on site. Whether I’m joining a ride, pitching in on a project, or capturing the quiet beauty of this place, I feel lucky to be part of something that means so much to so many. This land, this crew, and this way of life are close to my heart.

My favourite thing about working with horses is how present you have to be in the moment with them, and how honest they are with you – they really are great mirrors. What I love most about the ranching lifestyle is the sense of community that comes from working together with your neighbours, along with the wide open spaces. Nothing replaces the feeling of loping through the pasture on a bright, beautiful day.

Karissa Duquette

My favorite thing about working with horses is the opportunity to earn the trust and form a partnership with a 1000lb animal, while fine tuning my own skills and working towards different goals. My favorite thing about ranching is being a steward of land and livestock, while following and honoring the legacy and traditions of our family members who did it before us

Hunter Acker

Working with horses and cows is very calming to me, and it’s something I’ve come to really appreciate. I find it rewarding to spend time with the animals, building a connection and learning through each interaction. There’s a lot you can take away from working alongside them, and I value the mutual understanding and respect that develops over time.
